Biography
At TLD Law, Sonal Imbulamure practices in various litigation fields, including Business Law and disputes, Real Estate, Employment Law, Family Law, Trusts and Estate Litigation, and Probate Litigation. Before gaining bar admission in the fall of 2023, Mr. Imbulamure gained valuable experience as a Law Clerk at the firm during his final year of law school, where he assisted in real estate and trusts and probate litigation. His previous role as a Summer Associate at TLD commenced his training in employment litigation and corporate transactions.
Sonal was born in London, UK. He is a graduate of USC Gould School of Law with both a J.D. and an LL.M., Mr. Imbulamure distinguished himself academically, receiving the Dean’s Academic Excellence Merit Scholarship along with the Legal Writing Award for high achievement. Prior to his studies in the United States, Mr. Imbulamure completed his Bachelor of Laws (LLB), equivalent to a J.D., at the University of London, where he was recognized with a Merit Scholarship and graduated with Second Class Honors.
Mr. Imbulamure’s legal journey includes significant roles before joining TLD Law. As a Graduate Assistant and Teaching Assistant for Evidence at USC Gould School of Law, he was integral in screening LLM program applications, hosting office hours, and grading papers. He also developed skills in drafting living trusts and managing client estates. Mr. Imbulamure’s academic and professional journey has been complemented by active involvement in various legal societies and initiatives. He served as a Graduate Student Representative for the Student Bar Association at USC, held executive board positions in the Entertainment Law Society and Real Estate Law Society, and was a member of Phi Alpha Delta. He also played a vital role in the Faculty Interview & Selection Committee and represented his peers as a Student Ambassador.
Mr. Imbulamure is also licensed as an Attorney in Sri Lanka and served as an Associate Attorney at the Private Law Practice of Thisath Wijayagunawardana, Esq. President’s Counsel, where he honed his skills in corporate matters, intellectual property, and real estate. His foundational legal experience began as an Extern at the Sri Lanka Attorney General’s Department in Colombo, where he drafted memos and reviewed government contracts.
Fluent in English, Sinhalese, and Tamil, Mr. Imbulamure brings a rich cultural and linguistic diversity to his practice. His international experience is further underscored by his active bar admission in Sri Lanka in 2017. Mr. Imbulamure has contributed to the legal community through his editorial work for the Junior Bar Law Journal in Sri Lanka and his dedication to pro-bono services through Legal Aid of Sri Lanka.
Beyond the legal realm, Mr. Imbulamure enjoys hiking and attending live music concerts, film, and television and loves exploring new culinary adventures through cooking.
