Douglas Cicione, Of Counsel

Douglas D. Cicione is an attorney who represents clients throughout California as well as California residents who are non-U.S. citizens. Mr. Cicione has been recognized as a “Super Lawyer” in Taxation law and rated “AV Preeminent” by his peers. AV Preeminent is the highest rating issued by Lexis Nexis | Martindale-Hubbell and is reserved for no more than 5% of attorneys nationwide.

Mr. Cicione attended Stanford Law School and Stanford Graduate School of Business and graduated in 1977 from the joint J.D.-M.B.A. program. Mr. Cicione subsequently obtained his L.L.M. in Taxation from San Diego School of Law at an extension program in Los Angeles while working full-time.  He represents clients with personal and business taxation planning issues. He also represents clients with Estate Planning, Trust Administration and Probate issues. Mr. Cicione is a Certified Specialist in Taxation Law and Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization.

Mr. Cicione provides legal services to closely held businesses and highly compensated individuals in income, gift, estate, generation-skipping, property and other areas of federal and California taxation and planning. He prepares federal gift and estate tax returns for high net worth individuals and handles probates and complicated trust administrations. He assists in the formation and representation of corporations, LLCs, irrevocable trusts, public and private foundations. He provides tax planning for the purchase and sale of businesses and reorganizations as well as representing clients in federal and state tax audits and appeals.

  • 1973 – 1977 STANFORD LAW SCHOOL & STANFORD GRADUATE SCHOOL OF BUSINESS, Stanford, California J.D. and M.B.A. degrees in June, 1977. Concentration in corporate law and finance. Committee on Corporate Social Responsibility; Sergeants at Law (mock trial). Law School and Graduate Business School fellowships.
  • 1969 – 1973 ST. LAWRENCE UNIVERSITY, Canton, New York B.A. degree, summa cum laude, with highest distinction in economics, June, 1973. Honors thesis entitled “An Economic Examination and Evaluation of the New York State Lottery.” Phi Beta Kappa; National Economics Honorary (President-elect); National Mathematics Honorary; Wall Street Journal Award (outstanding economics thesis); Robert Frost Award (general academic excellence), Senator on student government. Sigma Chi Fraternity (Treasurer-elect). Accounting Recitation Teacher (financial and managerial accounting).
