SUMMARY
Joseph A. Lumsdaine is the most senior member of the law firm, having joined in 1979, after three years as a trial attorney for the federal government and then for a labor law firm in Los Angeles. He attended the University of California at Berkeley both undergraduate and law school, obtaining his Bachelor of Arts Degree with double majors in Philosophy and Psychology in 1973. Attending Boalt Hall School of Law in Berkeley, he graduated in 1976 after having served on the schools Moot Court Board and the Ecology Law Quarterly, serving for a time as Managing Editor.
In his over 30 years of legal practice, Mr. Lumsdaine has concluded more than fifty state and federal, jury and court trials to verdict, involving business disputes, personal injury, real estate and probate litigation. He has been appointed numerous times by the Los Angeles County Superior Courts to serve as a Probate Volunteer Panel attorney, as Judge Pro Tem and as Mediator. He has been certified by the Pepperdine University School of Law for the completion of their mediation training program. Mr. Lumsdaine regularly attends either the USC or the UCLA Probate Update Conferences.
Mr. Lumsdaine has served on the board and as chairman of the Downey Family YMCA, as President and member of Habitat for Humanity, as the President and board member of the Southeast L.A. County Bar Association, on the board and as President of ARC Southeast L.A., on boards of the Downey Regional Medical Center and as coach and manager of East Long Beach Pony Baseball League teams. He is also a member of the Los Angeles and Orange County Bar Associations, currently serving on sections involving estate planning, probate and elder law.
